To shade or not to shade

This past summer we changed the chandelier in the Dining room.  I don't think I ever posted a picture of it.  It's very similar to the one that was in there, but it has 12 lights.  I think the other one had 6 or 9?  I should just look at the old picture!     Anyway, while I LOVE the new chandelier, it's BRIGHT.  REALLY BRIGHT even though I only have 25 watt bulbs in it.    So I bought a couple of shades to play around with it.  I can't decide whether I should put shades on it, leave it without shades or just install a dimmer.  Then again I could put the dimmer and STILL put the shades on! Then I start to think when my beloved incandescent bulbs are no longer available I will want shades to cover those ugly light bulbs.   Even though I am hoarding the good ones in my basement!   See why I get nothing done?!  Sometimes I can't make a decision to save my life!

That is where YOU come in! I'd love to hear your thoughts.  What do you like better? With or without?  Which shape?  Take a look and let me know what you think!

Here are some pictures of the options...

XOXO

I like it best without shades but it looks beautiful with shades too! How's that for an answer? LOL..I wasn't aware that they no longer sold those light bulbs? I thought it was just a certain wattage? I guess one solution would be to enjoy the chandy without shades until you run out of light bulbs and have to buy the ugly ones and then use the shades!!!! Either way I would still install a dimmer :o)

Well, I love the chandy, it is gorgeous and I like it without the shades, however if you use shades, I really like #2 best. Looks so simple and elegant against all the crystals. More "refined". lol I do love a dimmer though, and we do have them on both of ours, think they are fabulous, so you might start with that. Hugs, Marty

Lovely chandelier! Oh I don't know, I like it both ways. Sometimes I add shades to my chandelier ( I have red ones and black toile ones) and sometimes I take them off. It doesn't have to be permanent.

I like both ways too, if you go with shades I like the 1st ones. I got your message, I've been absent from blogging for a bit while I deal with some family stuff. :/
I hope to get back to it soon, in the mean time I'm still stalkin blogs lol

I love your new gorgeous chandelier Kristi. I would put it on a dimmer. Would you believe almost all my lights are on dimmers. Even my hall lights. Both shades are pretty. I like the second one the best with your chandelier. It looks more regal and elegant.

No shades is my vote :)

I like it without shades. LOVE the chancy. It looks like one I keep eyeing on the HomeDepot site. Every time I break down and decide to order it it is sold out.

My vote is for no shades. That chandelier is too pretty to cover up!

Hi Kristi! Your chandelier is so pretty. I would suggest adding a dimmer switch. Wonder if anyone makes amber colored bulbs. That would add a depth of warmth rather than the brightness of a white bulb. So glad I found your blog.
