The "main" bathroom aka kids bath

I pretty much dropped off my home tour last year.  The fact was/is the upstairs isn't really finished.  Yes it's finished in the sense we live here and it's done.  But it's not really decorated.  Well, I shouldn't say that, M's room is done.  And J&K's room is done, although most of the time it looks like an episode of hoarders!

The upstairs was supposed to have three bathrooms, one master and two mains.  Cleaning bathrooms and toilets is my least favorite cleaning job, so I nixed one of the bathrooms and made it the laundry room.  I couldn't be happier that I made that decision.   So this main bath is shared by the kids.  M is only 4 so she uses our bathtub a lot still.   It's not big and actually on the small side.  But it has everything they need.  Two sinks helps a lot with multiple children, something we didn't have in the old house.

We opted for just a tub so we could tile the walls to give this bath a little pizazz.   I wanted it to have an old/vintage feel.  So when I saw the floor tile I fell in love.  I was concerned with so much grout, but like I said before it's a small room.  I can deal.   I got the mirrors at TJ Maxx and all the towel bars, hooks, and toilet paper holder on myknobs.com for a fraction of what the bath store wanted.  And they are Moen which I figured was a good brand and hopefully the finish won't be chipping off!

We still need a shower curtain in here and I was thinking this fabric might be good?   It's shared by boys and girls so I probably should keep that in mind.  I had a few other ideas but felt it might be too "girly".  Does that matter in a bathroom?  I over analyze everything .   Which keeps me from doing and finishing things, which keeps me from blogging.  Do you see the trend here?!

What kind of fabric could you see in this room?  This one or another? I love hearing your input, helps me in the decision making!!

Hope you enjoyed the tour! :)

I love that fabric and think it's very gender neutral! Such a pretty bathroom!

I was admiring your wall color in that pretty bathroom thinking how much it looks like my daughter's room and when I saw the fabric you want for the shower curtain, I flipped...it's the same fabric of her window curtains!! She found them at Target. Anyway, I love what you did and it's perfect for boys and girls. The floor is fabulous. I second guess myself all the time, don't feel bad! Great job!

The colors on that bathroom are so pretty. Love the floor too!

I understand what you mean about not over analyzing things. We've been in our house 8 months. I absolutely stress over silly little decisions. On a blog or something the other day it said, "Don't hesitate, decorate." I'm going to try to remember that. :)

You know your house is one of my faves. We have such similar taste.

Their bathroom looks great. Since you boys are older have you asked them what they think of the fabric? IMO it does look a little feminine. My son also 12 and daughter 4 share a bathroom, I had a difficult time finding something gender neutral as well, but went with a ticking stripe curtain from Pottery Barn, I believe its black ticking.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your home, it is my favorite!!!

I am visiting from Northern Nesting. I love your style. It is very similar to mine! That fabric will look wonderful and I think it is perfect for male or female.

Awesome color on the walls! It looks almost spa like - lucky kids!

When mine were growing up we had the same set up - double sinks and three kids. Since our reno we have a different set up, but I do love having two laundry rooms - one on the second and one on the third floors. What a time saver - wish I'd had this when mine were little like yours!!!

Looking forward to the rest of the tour - it's great having you back!

What a great bathroom. I love the color and the floor and the tile and all of your other choices. In my opinion, since you asked, I'm not sure you need to add a patterned shower curtain. The white liner is nice and it recedes out of the way, letting the rest of the bathroom be the star of the show. As far as I'm concerned, you're finished!

I'm loving your bathroom Kristi! The tile is amazing and the tub with tile setup is exactly what I'm thinking for when we redo our downstairs bath.

I love the clean lines of your (kids) bathroom. I would use the beautiful black and white fabric for valance (near ceiling)and tie backs trimmed with black piping paired with simple white curtains for shower/tub with white fabric liner. More of the fabric for tailored valance at window. If privacy is issue white 2" wooden (plastic wood looking) blinds.
