Halloween, an Election and a Dedication!

WOW, what a few weeks it's been! Halloween was alot of fun here. We had a party with family and a few friends. Pizza and then trick or treating. My aunt brought the most SCRUMPTIOUS chocolate cake! The boys had a blast and John and I dressed up too! Madelyn's costume was so HOT she only had it on for about 5 mins and we didn't even get a picture of her in it! Oh well, next year!

The Election, my candidate didn't win. I thought he would have been a fine president and helped our country. But I realize that we do have a president-elect and I'm praying that he makes the right decisions for our country and that even though he wasn't my choice, I hope I'm pleasantly surprised! :)

It was Madelyn's Dedication ceremony at church this past Sunday. It was a very special day for our family. She is such a blessing to all of us. We had our family and friends celebrating with us. It's amazing how much joy this little girl has brought to all of us. I thank God everyday for giving me this beautiful family. I know my purpose in life was to be a mother and I'm so enjoying every moment of it. It goes by entirely too fast! I feel like the boys were born yesterday and they will be EIGHT in January!!!

Busy, busy!

WOW, it's been a week since I have posted and it seems like I haven't sat down since my last post!!! Last week my cousin came to visit me. She lives in Alabama but was in Virginia visiting her friend so she came up here to spend almost a week with me. We had a blast, like we always do when she's here! We shopped, ate and organized my spare bedroom. It was a MESS and poor Lori had to sleep in there, lol! We went thrifting and found some great sweaters and clothes! I found a dress for her daughter that I know was around $150 new, we got it for $3.50!! Now that is what I call fun!

Of course all good things come to an end, she had to leave to go home on Saturday. It's always such an empty feeling when company leaves. The house is quieter and just not the same for a few days. The bright side is that she will probably come back in December, I hope she can!

My nephew's baptism was on Saturday. So I thought I would share a picture of the kids and I. It's RARE that I'm actually IN the picture since I'm always the one taking them! I really love black and white pics. I change alot of my pics to B&W. :)

I can't believe Halloween is in 3 days! Just doesn't seem possible! Where does the time go??? I haven't decorated that much inside. I need to put a couple more things out since we are having people over for Halloween. We usually do pizza and then go trick or treating. And I'm thrilled it's on a Friday so no school the next day! Johnny is going to be Indiana Jones, Kris is going to be Captain Jack Sparrow and Madelyn is going to be a bunny! My husband is dressing up as a 70's disco guy, this should be funny! I still need to throw something together. I'm usually a witch every year, NO PUN INTENDED, LOL LOL LOL! Happy Halloween!

I have been tag'd!! Carol over at paintergal's little cottage, tag'd me and I'm supposed to list 6 quirky things about myself or 6 things I collect. Now I'm SURE I'm VERY quirky, I just can't think of 6 things right now, so I'll list 6 things I collect! ;)

Crunchy or Crazy?

Yup, that's me these days! Crunchy as in granola mama, tree hugging hippie, or green girly! I decided very early on after I had Madelyn that I would give cloth diapering a try. I recycle everything, I hate buying anything "disposable", although there are a few things (like toilet paper!!) that are NEEDED. But anything that is constantly thrown in a land fill really weighs on my mind lately. And after I read that a SINGLE disposable diaper would typically take 500 yrs to decompose in a land fill, that was IT! Nevermind the chemicals that are in them. And trust me, I didn't always know this. My twin boys were diapered in disposables and Lord knows we went through a TON of them! But I think we are just more aware of the environment now and want to do everything to help. Well, I have become completely addicted to this cloth diapering thing! You can't IMAGINE what is available. These aren't your mama's cloth diapers, yet some of them ARE! I have a "stash" already and I keep building it bigger. Here are some pics of these lovelies. I'm sure by now, you have either stopped reading or deemed me insane. But I just had to show you! :) Oh and of course I had to pick up some environmentally friendly, completely biodegradable detergents to wash them with. I don't know why I ever used anything else! You can use a TABLESPOON of detergent for a large wash. You just can't believe it! Ok, I'll stop now!!! Hee hee, they're coming to take me away Ha Ha !!

Little Treasures

Last night I decided to look on Craigslist to see if there was any yard sales going on. I came across a posting of one that sounded very interesting. It said everything was old, no clothes, just contents of a barn and attic from a pack rat. The pack rat word alone intrigued me. So today (later than I wanted to) off I went to check it out. I had my sweet baby with me that I knew was going to be hungry at ANY moment, so I knew I had to make it quick! I ended up finding a beautiful tole tray, a wool doll coat (another new obsession of mine, lol) and 4 little vintage angels spelling NOEL! I also got two vintage "popcorn" (plastic) decorations, one is a snowman and one is an angel. My camera batteries died completely, so I couldn't get pictures of those. But I thought I would share these!

I love fall, but the only thing I don't like about it is, I know garage sale season is ending! But it makes it all the more fun in the spring! :)

Possibly the worst blog host ever!~

Boy, A LOT can happen in a year time! Long enough to have a baby and that's JUST what we did! Our former family of 4 is now a family of 5! We welcomed Madelyn Jovanna into our lives on July 17th 2008. She is 10 weeks old and a sweet, SWEET baby!! Her brothers are in love, as are we! Thank you God for blessing us with this miracle. She is a joy to us all! Stay tuned for more adventures in motherhood! Who knew having ONE baby was so much FUN! Considering I had twins first, LOL! :)
