To strip or Not to strip.......

that is the question! I remember first seeing this border in Ballard catalog. I even bought the hooked rug to match! I loved the little roosters sitting on the ornate french chairs. So fun! But now, 4 1/2 yrs later with window treatments up I wonder if this makes my kitchen look "busy". I still love the pattern, but I also have ALOT going on in my kitchen (which isn't seen in these pics). I know I will probably have to repaint IF I strip it because of the paint fading from the sunlight on the walls. But I just wonder if I should take on this project today? Or leave well enough alone! But I have been going back and forth with this for some time now. And hopefully we'll be putting the house on the market in the next year or so. So what do you think?

Kristi,

It's hard to tell without having a full shot of the kitchen area. I think it's a cute border in itself, but maybe we can see some more images?

Congrats on starting the new blog!

Hey Kristi - It's Christine from your board. I'm interested to see what you do because I have been thinking about stripping my border too. We may put our house on the market too if we find something else we like and if so I may strip the border. If we stay I am definitely stripping it! LOL If I were you, I would strip it because I think it would make your kitchen more desirable to all types of buyers. If houses are selling quickly where you are I wouldn't bother though, only if you need to stage it. Where are you moving? Details...

Kristi- I say don't do it if you are gonna sell in the next year. I wouldn't go through the hassle if it means repainting also. Jen

Kristi,
I love it. Of course, I have a thing for roosters, but I like just a touch of wallpaper in a room. I also love the color of the walls. Do you know the name of the paint?

bye bye border. just my two cents. I love your home, so if it stays, that's ok, too. Nice blog!

I see you're still an avid thrifter too. I'm carrying on in B'ham. Hope you & the family are doing well.

Stay in touch!

I just stumbled onto your blog and it looks like a welcoming place. I love your border. I think it looks great and the paint color is wonderful. What color and brand, if I may ask. Best wishes and please, keep on posting!

Hello all! Thank you for your input! I started stripping the border last night in a tiny area and now I'm sorry I did because it's not going to come off as easy as I thought! So I'm either going to patch it with some that I have here, LOL. Or hire someone to take it down and paint! I just don't have the energy!!! :(

Patch Kristi patch! It's an adorable border especially for someone that loves roosters like you. I don't think it will hurt resale one bit. Love your kitchen. RJ

I totally think ou should strip and paint. It will make the house easier to sell when you are ready. to go there. I hated stripping all the wall paper when we bought our house.
